SHANTINIKETAN

Under the aegis of PIMR Students Club, the Institute has been organizing Shantiniketan, which is an excursion cum learning tour program. The purpose of the tour is to combine fun with learning to develop team-building skills amongst the students of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The fifth education cum recreational tour, Shantiniketan 2004, was organized from February 23-29, 2004. 43 students alongwith 3 faculty members visited various places of tourist interest in Kullu and Manali.

SPARDHA

To chisel the all round personality of the student, PIMR organized its first National Sports Festival Spardha-2003 on March 28-30, 2003. The festival witnessed the participation of 215 students from 16 institutions across the country. The event included badminton, volleyball, carom, chess and table tennis.

SRAJAN

For fostering and testing the software development skills amongst the students of various professional programs like MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA, the Institute organized. Second National Inter-Institute Software Contest, Srajan-2002 on March 13, 2004. Fifteen teams from various academic institutions across the country participated in the contest by developing projects in two categories Database oriented and core languages orientted. The different platforms used were Visual Studio, Oracle 8i, MS-Access, Foxpro 2.6, Java, C and C++. The winning teams in both the categories were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-. Prior to this, an Inter-Institute Software Competition was organized on March 23, 2002. Twenty-one teams from various institutes of Indore participated in the contest by developing projects in Database, Graphics, Networking and Games.


SWAVALAMBAN

To hone entrepreneurial skills amongst the students and to offer them an opportunity to apply conceptual knowledge a Business Plan Competition, Swawlamban is organized by the Institute at national level. Swavlamban 2004 organized on March 20, 2004 and saw a participation of 25 teams across the country out of which 20 teams were selected for final presentation. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.

EXTRA MURAL LECTURE SERIES

This is another dynamic aspect of PIMR's Management programs. Guest lectures are organized to supplement the theoretical knowledge of students with practical inputs provided by experienced professionals coming from reputed organizations. Executives and eminent personalities from the corporate world are invited to the Institute regularly for interacting with students on the relevant topics and pragmatic aspects of management. Such interactions enrich students by exposing them to the experiences of industry and commerce.

FACULTY CLUB

PIMR has a Faculty Club which celebrates birthdays and organizes farewell parties and outings to facilitate the development of fraternity amongst faculty. The faculty of the Institute is sensitive to social issues, and has always come forward at the time of national disasters and calamities. The faculty members of the Institute voluntarily donated one day's salary each time towards Kargil Fund, Orissa Relief Fund and Gujarat Earthquake Relief Fund in the past.


PIMR-FREE PRESS MANAGEMENT SPECIAL

Institute had undertaken a six months project with Free Press, a Mumbai based daily, for popularizing the concept of management. One full page of the newspaper was devoted to the short articles written by the faculty of the Institute on the fortnight basis. The articles were prepared with an aim to make the public in general and interested readers in particular aware about the practices in professionally managed business and non-business organizations. The project was over in April 2003.
